away from the hypnotic mayhem of the floating roofscapes, we see fractured images cycling faster. just as clouds follow the wind, airy soundscapes track the low-end groundwork with grainy artifacts bursting in amongst the thick. lost in this surrounding ambience, the b side carves its way with a resonant materiality where shattering hi-hats pull you out of a hypnotic semi-dormant state. pulse locker refers to the analog method of synching analog modular instruments and drum machines, a method of working john tejada & josh humphrey have embraced to generate their trademark sounds and grooves. preferring to work away from the computer as much as possible, john and josh have adapted a more old school approach to their work, syncing analog gear together, not from a computer, but the way it was synced back in the day. the results are a tight, organic analog sound showcased particularly by the 2nd track >bifur gates<. with a tr-808 as master clock, syncing the modular system, the sound takes you back to the mid 90s era of techno. real 808 beats, punchy bass and an ever so shifting classic chord line will leave you lingering for the days of old. on the a side, >pulse locker< with its big and warm groove, gets things moving with a blend of house and techno. rounding out the ep, >unanimous arc< showcases the mad acid sounds possible on the sh-101 while modular chords elevate the track to a manic pace. >pulse locker< marks the duos third collaboration on palette recordings.

the son of a prominent nicaraguan politician, alfonso noel lovo was a choice target for the sandinista rebels who hijacked his homeward flight from miami in december of 1971, ultimately putting several rounds through the talented musicians torso and hand. after several years, and as many surgeries, he would break new ground on this psychedelic swirl of latin jazz and pan-american funk with his musical partner, percussionist jose chepito areas of santana fame. long unavailable, la gigantona has lived its forty years lost in the grooves of a single acetate. imagine a nicaraguan take on herbie hancocks afro-jazz masterpiece mwandishi with some of the most penetrating, left-field guitar youve never heard.

there are a number of theories as to how, in the mid-20th century, african music made its way to colombias vibrant port city of barranquilla, todays mecca of caribbean tropical music flled with the chaos of loud music, frenetic taxis, delicious sancocho soup aromas and a charminglycolourful aura. some maintain that a man named boquebaba remains responsible. others claim that seafaring traders and merchants imported the frst sizeable amount of african vinyl.

after all efforts were put into jacob korns debut album during summer 2012 uncanny valley strikes back with namesake jacob stoy and his very first solo ep after his s51 for the uv010-compilation. everything starts with redensart, a sunny piece of music with a sneaky bassline and easy synth pads that come across like a warm rain shower: its house in the end but feels like so much more. hauswart is an impressive example of how one can create a whole atmosphere of sound within two minutes. its short but feels so comfortable that you really like it to go on and on forever. start is maybe the most conventional deep house track on the ep and seduces with catchy synth chords and thrilling drums. finally gegenwart brings things to a jazzy end with tipsy synths and tripping percussions. the artwork comes from none other than jacobs father olaf stoy, who is a painter, lyricist and porcelain designer still working in jacobs hometown rabenau near dresden.

a fistful of wax is an extension for some very special projects of our beloved deep house skylax records sub – label wax classic. for this first release, we give you the opportunity to grab 5 fantastic trax done by some of the best deep house producers at the moment. a1 is done by the great girogio luceri whose been releasing some very hot tunes through jamal moss mathematics & runaways on the prowl labels. a2 is done by jamie trench one of the new hot producer made in london, his track sound very very garage & we loved it instantly. while on the b side we have again 3 bomb tracks featuring first on b1 jackmaster k who delivers clearly an anthem, it reminds us some of best house music made in uk (circa 91/92), this track could have been played by sasha & digweed or carl cox at shoom ! b2 is marcoradi , an italian producer who teamed up with the great nicholas on one his 4lux release. he also produced many remixes (erykah badu ect ...) & some 12 inches over the years. b3 is rio padice from rawax & housewax fame those tracks are all firmly rooted into the deep house sound (check the detroitian vibes of get back). they never settle into one comfortable, predictable groove. its heady, emotion-rich grooves include warm, melodic two-step and future garage flavas, dubwise slo-mo grooves. its eclectic, no doubt, but thanks to those guys warm production and heavy deep vocals, this release will put your hands up in the air marvellously.

as emotional rescue continues to deliver the goods for those who love discofied rarities from the 70s and 80s, here comes this ep from kevin harrison, originally released in 1982 and worth a pretty penny second hand. it is a wistful, proggy kind of groove that finds harrisons voice lost in an alien phaser while the live band feel gels with synthesiser parts for a fluid kind of cosmic goodness. there is simply no arguing with the plush melodic wonderment of >views of the rhine<, while >fly< is the jam the party djs will reach for, not least for its slinky bassline. amazing.

tune in: dana ruh brings brouqade back from summer holidays. an ep completely rounded, mesmerizing from first to last. sula wakes with vivid snares. precisely produced, finely tuned arrangements and driven by a straight beat and pulsating bass line, the track develops with its deep clubsound to a veritable groover.cautious in the beginning nebouxii gains its selfesteem, builds up subtly, pushes and drives forward and spreads its hypnotic appeal. the mood is constantly high and takes its time to fully develop. sulidae brings you back from the previous hypnosis and gives you insight in a different world: charming vocals glide on a steady synth line, when all around a poetic magic is revealed and some ingenious elements are pulled out of the hat.

grinding teeth is a unhealthy habit, but sometimes you cant help it. back on track on their mission to provide the worlds most hypnotic yet kicking techno beats, its all about the saegezahn and crunchy grinding on neufeld 02 sawtooth grinder. an amazingly diverse release, with three different takes on the original, each work stands on its own yet shares a common goal - to inspire people to hit a dark dance floor and shake their bodies as hard as they can and lose their minds in acid lushness.

total control dislocate expectations with this inaugural home loan records 12 inch. not the charged up paranoid vox/guitar/drums combo that we have become accustomed to through their visceral live shows - instead men with machines producing pensive proto-tech experiments and tense industrial wave. includes the original version of carpet rash which was re-recorded in full band mode for henge beat, and two previously unreleased immersive rhythm tracks formed through collaboration between guitarist mikey young and drummer james vinciguerra. vinciguerra would fire deranged beats down the hole while young would jam over them, watching waves in a trance from his perch at phillip island. on the flip we find two reconstructions from home loan manager michael ozone. carpet rash receives the club re-contextualisation with ozone fully utilising its penetrating synth hook, while new age hop climbs the arabic scale.

>blurry< runs at 133bpm allowing it to sit neatly between dubstep tempo and the increasingly popular 125-130 bpm bass / house scene that has been developing in the uk over the last couple of years. taking things down an ongy-bongy path, this rhythm provides the soundtrack to a hunter chasing his prey through a humid jungle landscape, with fast weaving beats charged heavy by the deadly subs. the heat is on.
>spearhead< sees roska making a rare 140bpm trip, taking this rhythmical excursion neatly into dubstep tempo territory, creating an original cut which sits in its own world of tribal grime. the bassline pounds heavy, eventually rising upward before suddenly plummeting back down to the murky depths from where it came, and back round again. dis-hyeer quality dubstep music produced pon the other side of the looking glass.
